Leaving the comfort and luxury of your hotel in Kuala Lumpur to tour and explore the city is totally an acceptable feat for all tourists visiting this Malaysian city. After all, enjoyment is not limited within the walls of any 5-star lodging establishments, it is found also in different places.

To enjoy, people mingle with other people. But for some twist, why not go for some animal encounter instead? In Kuala Lumpur, it is a recommended tourist activity which will certainly be enjoyed. There are two suggested destinations: the National Zoo and the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park.

The National Zoo, known as Zoo Negara to the locals, is a 110-acre zoo in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur which was opened on 1963. Being merely a few kilometres away from the center of the city, the zoo is a great destination for tourists who wish to see over 400 kinds of exotic mammals, reptiles and birds – with some being unique in Malaysia.

Kids and adults alike will surely love this attraction which is hailed as the first national zoo in Malaysia. People walking around the place are up for some understanding and discovery about how the animal kingdom works.

Among the exotic exhibits of the National Zoo are the Sumatran Tiger, orang-utans, gibbons and an African lion.

For a more organized experience, the park is actually divided according to themes. Few are the Reptile Park, where alligators, crocodiles and other reptiles can be found; the Pouchland, where marsupials like wallabies and kangaroos can be seen; and the Children’s World where cute and other harmless animals like rabbits, ducks, parrots, guinea pigs and chickens can be found.

There are also elephant shows to entertain visitors. Feeding the animals is prohibited.

Another ideal place to explore the animal kingdom in Kuala Lumpur is the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park.

Opened by the Queen on 199, the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park has then assumed the title of the World’s Largest Covered Bird Park. Housing 3000 birds of 200 species, this attraction definitely is one of the must-sees while in the city.

When walking around the park, visitors are up for some majestic experience of seeing flamingos, pelicans, hornbills, parrots, storks and surgeons. It is not a common sight in Malaysia so a trip to the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park should surely be treasured. After all, it feels great to encounter these colorful sights fluttering overhead. Bird-feeding stations are also set up to bring the people closer to the birds. However, the food should be bought from the park administration since these lovely creatures are quite sensitive with food.

To match the exoticness of the main attractions (which are the birds), the park was designed with miniature gardens, cascading pools, bridges, and flowering plants. This way, a true appeal of flora and fauna will be exuded.

There is also a children’s playground, seminar room and amphitheatres.

Tourists will surely enjoy visiting the aforementioned attractions. It is close to Kuala Lumpur hotels anyway so tourists won’t have problems getting to it. To assist you in choosing good nearby hotels, visit HotelsinAsia.com.sg.
